applied as a junior transfer from a top 25 liberal arts college. current stats: 3.95 gpa (due to an A- in upper level chem class and an English class in my freshman fall); test optional (except Georgetown- submitted a 1230 from 4 years ago); rec letter from my academic advisor/bio prof and Neuro prof which I think were super strong; reasons for transferring were that I couldn’t do my major at my current school or any research.

ECs: hospital volunteering, math tutor, work in two of my profs labs but no publications or anything like that, summer research, nursing home volunteer

Schools I applied to:

UVA (accepted)

Duke (rejected)

I’m applying as a junior transfer from middlebury. Major: neuroscience, global health minor.

Stats: I have a 3.95 gpa (A- in an English class freshman fall and an upper level chem class that same semester), 1230 sat from sophomore year of high school (went test optional for all except gtown),

Rec letters from my neuro prof who I’ve had all year am very close with, and my bio prof/advisor. I think they’re really strong letters of rec.

My reason was that I couldn’t do my major or research at my current institution. There are no opportunities related to research bc the departments are so saturated. I wasn’t allowed to be a neuro major due to some scheduling issues

I applied for financial aid from all schools. Middle income, white, VA resident

Predict:

So far, I only heard back from Duke (rejected)
