I used to think of backup power as a small, essentials-only thing: keep the fridge cold, charge phones, maybe run Wi-Fi for a while.

But after moving into a larger house, my needs changed pretty quickly. We now have more appliances to think about, including two central AC units and a sump pump, so the old portable power station setup started feeling more like a short-term patch than a real home solution.

For homeowners who made the jump from a portable backup setup to something more integrated or closer to whole-home power, what made it worth it for you?

I’ve been looking at more permanent systems, including the anker e10 route, but I’m trying to stay realistic about whether it’s actually the right step for a larger home.
