Hi, I'm 16,male, and just got a job as a part time tutor in a large tutoring company, I suspect due to my lack of knowledge, I will mostly be tutoring 8-14 years old and even though I haven't started working yet, I have some apprehensions regarding the tone of voice I am expected to take when interacting with them. I see tutors online/primary teachers take an almost comical cheery overly expressive, almost patronising tone when talking and explaining, and I dont think I can do that... it seems so artificial and fake. I can be kind and appreciative and positive and engage fine. I just feel like if someone would have talked to me like the video below 5 years ago, id want to punch them for being so incredibly condescending.

Video of an example of what I'm talking about:

I'm kind of considering that I'm not suited for this type of role, any reassurance, particularly those who are successful and aren't so emotional would be good.

I'm 16 and applying to Morgan Stanley STEM work experience. I got rejected from 2 back to back, so I want to know what a company like this would actually look for in a candidate, so if anyone has any experience in HR or anyone working in a similar field, I would greatly appreciate it.

The questions asked are :

  • Please describe why you wish to attend this event.
  • Please provide an interesting fact about yourself.
  • Please describe yourself in 3 words

Here's somethings about me :

- Interested in computer science and finance - did a research project on computer science, but not very related to finance, its very theoretical.

- USACO gold -> pretty good rank in a competitive programming competition.

- Created paper trading website using API that tracks stock value, returns a graph value with a clean interface + web scraper to scan income statements+balance sheets for large number of companies quickly.

- Lloyds Bank Virtual Job experience, where I used logistic regression, random forest to predict customer churn - using statistical tools like median imputation to clean datasets.

- I can write about a recent trend in the market that I am looking at and how it affects my stock portfolio like the USA-Iran war or smth similar.

- 3rd/10000+ in a national innovation competition to make an illegal parking camera using RFID technology.

I'm struggling to find a balance between braggy stuff and why I want to attend ie what the event will give me. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this for now and in any future applications I do?
