Hi everyone! Just got promoted to senior associate and I’m looking for some advices/guidance on how to navigate and prepare for Counsel/Partner promotion in the coming years. I have done huge BD work and have gained great internal and external visibility (got amazing feedback from partnership on my business plan). My main concern now is that I should not rely on work previous « seniors » were giving me but rather start generating business on my own (stand-alone and/or rely on other partners and counsels for it). I have my appraisals approaching and was wondering if I should bring it up already or wait next year to have this « what are my perspectives » talk. Any tips how to navigate this long/short-term goal? Thanks!
