Is the Brawler's 30mm rotary even worth it?

I recently tried to complete Reprisal with the 30mm equipped, and I came to the conclusion that it absolutely sucks. The idea was to take out the more AA capable vehicles in each convoy with a missile, then finish off the rest with the rotary cannon to save ammo and hopefully do more work between rearming (and it just sounds more fun than a full rocket loadout). In practice, after approaching a column from the back, I could at best destroy one vehicle with the guns and in that time I would usually eat a prop strike or lose multiple control surfaces in return, just from an MBT firing at me, making the whole thing unsustainable. I've tried adding the 20mm gunpods to the mix and that worked better, but their ammo runs out very fast and leaves me with lots of unspent 30mm and back on square one.

The worst part is that in the same slot I could take the 57mm, which has a much longer range, kills convoys faster, defeats missiles, the airburst makes it piss easy to use, etc.

It feels like the only reason to take the 30mm is the cool factor, which is fair, but I'd still like it to do some work for me. Any of you more experienced Brawler pilots have some tips for how to use it effectively?
