▲ 5 r/Tile

Hi. the plumber messed up the diverter valve install. They will need to go back in to redo the pipe connections. How bad is the damage going to be to the tile when they retile. especially since they will need to redo part of the hardy board. Can they just cut a square foot or two or will they have to take out like half the wall. More specifically, will the repair be noticeable on the tile afterwards? thank you.

UPDATE. they will go in from the other side of the wall which is accesible.

We recently had our shower done. The contractor wasn't very good at plumbing and kept having issues with delta’s universal cartridges. Eventually, they got the main on/off valve to work after i spent some time looking online to show them that the flat metal plate they had taken off the valve was not just a shipment protector but part of the valve as they kept saying the cartridge was defective.

As for the diverter, it seemed to work fine at the moment. I know realized they use the off switch of the handheld and i assumed the trickle was left over water in the line. We really couldn't play with it much bc we were still waiting on a marble bench. So everything was shown to us at low pressure.

i finally go to take a shower and realize the diverter is not working properly. As u can see on the video.
position 1: turns off the shower head completely and sends water to the handheld And with good pressure.
position 2: water comes out of the shower head and the handheld. However it doesn't come out at a great pressure. All The holes in the shower head don‘t even come out with the same strength. Some spray, some stream.
position 3: water comes out of the shower head and the handheld at super low pressure.

There is no way to turn on water in the shower head Without water going to the handheld. Even when u switch the lever in the actual handheld to no water, the water still trickles out. There is always water going to the handheld. The shower pressure sucks

is the diverter valve defective? Was it installed incorrectly? I did notice that when they connected the pipes to the rough housing, the pipe carrying the water in wasn't installed to the bottom openning at 6 o clock (as delta says in a youtube video). The water coming in was installed to the opening on the right at 3 o clock. When I brought it up during the rough in the they said it was irrelevant bc all the holes function the same and it was the valve that did the work Of sending the water where it needs to go

any guidance on how to fix this. Is it the diverter valve itself that is not working well. could they have installed if wrong even though there are little guiding notches?. Is it how they connected the pipe bringing water into the diverterV Unfortunately, i dont have a picture of the rough in before closing it.

thank you!
