I decided to give my dog back to the shelter and I feel terrible
Hi everyone,
This is kind of a pet loss post but it didn't feel appropriate due to my dog not having passed away.
But my dog just bit another dog about 40 minutes ago on our walk. There was a dog in their house and it spotted my dog and barreled through it's screen door (the screen was broken) and my dog thankfully only bit on the other dog's harness but my dog wouldn't let go and hurt me in my attempt to get him off this other dog.
After all the reactivity from my dog and now this attack I really feel like we can't take care of him properly and as a result I contacted the rescue we got him from and thankfully they always take back their dogs which is a huge relief as I don't think I could live with myself if I had to put him down.
I really feel like I failed my dog even after all the training sessions with our wonderful trainer he's still incredibly reactive and well this attack just now.
I guess I'm just here for support or anything at this point. I haven't stopped crying since we got back inside and I'm really distraught.
