Hi, I have no technical or fine motor skills, am just frugal and enthusiastic— the battery of my SE2 is at 50%; it doesn’t hold a charge for more than a few minutes so it’s essentially a corded phone at this point.

Local repair shops charge $90 to replace the battery and it’s a 6 year old phone so it doesn’t seem worthwhile (I’ve seen third gen SEs for around $120 lately). I keep reading that it’s fairly simple to replace the battery, but I cracked the screen of an early iPhone when I tried to replace its battery many years ago. Is the SE easier to disassemble or am I just as likely to destroy the very thing I’m trying to salvage? Please advise, TIA!

Also, if anyone has suggestions as to how to recycle or repurpose broken or dead phones without inadvertently giving access to private data etc to someone who knows what they’re doing, please let me know. The labour and environmental exploitation that goes into making these things is very stressful.
