Hi,
I read the FAQ and used the search function before posting, but I couldn’t find a definitive answer to my question. I use the "Row question" flair since it was the closest to my question.
I’m planning to knit a summer top with bamboo yarn, as recommended in the pattern. I first knitted a swatch to get my gauge right. Like most people, the stitches on the left/purl edge are looser than on the right/knit edge. For this reason, I use the slip stitch method to get nicer results.
I thought blocking the swatch would help even them out, but it hasn’t. It actually seems to enlarge the stitches on the left/purl side. They’re about 1.5 times larger than on the other side, which makes that side of the swatch about 1cm longer than it should be.
The top will have spaghetti straps, so I’m worried the uneven edges will be noticeable or affect the fit. The pattern doesn’t address this or mention anything about the edges.
Is there anything I could do to even out the edges better?
