Hi guys ! I have my full Ironman (Kalmar) in august (the 15th) and was wondering when should my peak week of training occur ? Like my longest Long run etc. I was thinking about 1.5/1month before race ? What do you guys do generally and whats your experience on that ? thanks !

Hi, so I've been doing triathlon since january 2025 and I was overweight (120kg/265lbs for 191cm/6'4 at 19yo) so I decided to start triathlon. I've done my first 70.3 in july the same year (at 96kg/211lbs) in 7h14. The time was pretty bad because the bike had "lots of elevation" at least for me (1000m meters) and I was dead for the run after..
However ! Since, I've been back on track and signed up for my first full Ironman in Kalmar (august 2026). I am currently at 85kg/187lbs (way easier now to run and bike) and training approximately 13-16 hours a week now. My brother told me that to calculate an estimate IM time I should take my half time, multiple it by 2 and add 1 hour which would equal to 16 hours for me. However, I really got better in the 3 sports and I don't just wanna finish the race, I actually want to crush it (in my way, not a sub 10 lmao).
My goal is to go sub 13 hours.
Here is a little overview of my training so far :
- Training 11 times/week (gym included) and 15h/week
- Going to the gym 3 times a week (Ik it's not the best thing but I really love going there and it helps me staying on track)
- Bike 3x/week (1 EZ, 1 Interval, 1 Brick session)
- Run 3x/week (1 Long, 1 Interval, 1 run of the bike)
- Swim 2x/week (1 Technique, 1 Long)
Last week I got my long run which was 24km at pace 5:47/km (9:19/mile) at HR 151 average. I did a bike ride of 130km/80mile in Zone 2 for 4h45 (~27km/h | 16.8mile/hour average and 136 HR). And in my brick session I usually go for 90/100km (62miles) bike ride followed by a 5-10km (6miles) run at goal IM pace (5:55/km or 9:30/mile) . For the swim I was never good or bad I was always swam at 1:55/100m even at my 70.3 so I am not really worried about that. I also already started working on the nutrition (45-50g of glucides/hour). And I have no coach, everything by myself (and Claude)
So I was wondering if you would have any advices ? If you think I am right on track for a sub13 or maybe a little behind ? And if a sub13 is actually realistic... Sub13 would need :
- 1h20 SWIM (2:02/100m)
- 7h BIKE (26km/h or 16.2miles/hour)
- 4h20 RUN (6:20/km or 10:10/mile)
- 20 minutes transitions
I feel like I could do it considering my performances of right now but I also know that race day never goes as planned so if any of you has a point of view you would like to share ! Thank you very much guys
