Hiya!
I'm female, 30 years old, my starting weight I took the day before I started was 379.4lbs. My current weight is 368.8lbs. (before starting Wegovy, I'd previously lost 40lbs through CICO and struggled with it). I'm losing quickly with the pill, but that's to be expected at my current weight. I'm on the 1.5mg pill and due to start the 4mg this month!
Just wanted to give some updates on side effects, new things I've noticed:
I was super worried about nausea at first. It's not something I've had to deal with very much, thankfully. I take the pill in the mornings around 6ish and usually go back to sleep until 7:30/8am to try and avoid nausea because in my head I think it'll happen right away. But when I wake, I have breakfast and a sugar free red bull and don't feel off at all. It's easy to forget to eat now, so sometimes I'll feel a small tug of nausea and that's a signal to me that I need to eat so I grab a banana or something and eat that to settle my stomach before having a meal.
Honestly, I don't think I need the red bull/caffeine anymore. I feel more energetic in the mornings already. I haven't felt the same sluggish drive to chug a red bull to inspire any spark of life in myself. (I plan to start cutting back and stop buying them soon).
My ADHD was 1000x worse during the first week. I've struggled with maladaptive daydreaming my entire life and I simply could not pull myself out of my head. It impacted my work and caused a lot of extra stress for me. I couldn't stop obsessively daydreaming about Lee Byung-Hun specifically, though I doubt that's a medication side effect. I have noticed that the past few days have been easier with that. I'm hoping that I can adjust to it soon enough and get back to my usual routine.
Food noise is gone for me. I still find myself occasionally falling into old habits like it's muscle memory more than anything else. But even when I eat chips or fries, I don't wolf them down and still feel hungry enough to eat more. I can eat snacks leisurely now. I do smoke weed (chronic stress girly) as it helps me relax. But even when I have the munchies the thoughts aren't all consuming and I can just ignore the cravings. This was the biggest thing for me choosing to get on the Wegovy Pill in general. I spent so much time thinking about food, planning grocery trips, meals, when I'd eat next, etc. Now it feels like there's a full part of my brain relieved to do other things–it has chosen daydreaming about hot celebrities falling madly in love with me over productivity for now, but I'm working on that.
I work a sedentary job and would often find that I had fluid retention in my legs and ankles after sitting for too long. That has subsided and I have hot, sexy ankles now. I even got to tighten the straps on my sandals :)
Oh, money. How I've missed having you. I've started saving again. Truthfully, the medication is going to pay for itself. Grocery shopping once a week and not really having strong cravings that push me to go to the store again to get new food, wasting what I already have, is an incredible boon. Good for the environment, too.
I'm not currently eating a lot of high protein, high fiber foods. I'm a picky eater usually so a lot of these things are gross to me. I am working to try introducing new, healthy foods into my diet that check more nutrient boxes.
The foods I want have changed. I used to love my diet coke and diet Dr. Pepper, but now it's too sudsy and I can't stomach it as much. I still like it as a sweet treat, but I've not gone through them as quickly as I would have before. I also find that I don't crave things like McDonalds or ice cream and really salty snacks (though when I'm high I do still desire a crunchwrap, but some things might never change). When I've been snacking it's been things like bananas and popcorn.
Just thought I'd share my experience as I know the pill is still so new and a lot of people are worried about it. I've already seen such great results with very few negative sides! I am a little nervous about moving up to the 4mg dosage as I understand side effects like nausea might be worse on that. But I'm hopeful it won't be too bad.
If anyone has any go-to meals or snacks that they like to have while on this they don't mind sharing, I'd love to hear them :)
