Hi! For context, I accepted a summer internship for a pretty globally recognized brand (Company #1) about 2 weeks ago, the pay is good and it’s located right next to where I live.

But, as of today, Company #2 - another nationally recognized brand that I applied for - just reached out for a secondary interview.

Although I would love to work for them this summer, there are a couple things I have in mind;
- It’s located out-of-state, so i’d have to find housing by June
- Pay is $10/hr more than what I’d be getting at Company #1
- It’s more aligned with my future goals
- I already committed to Company #1 given their acceptance deadline.

Would it be appropriate to let the recruiters know that I won’t be looking to join them this summer anymore due to my prior commitment, but that I want to learn more about the company and the responsibilities as a whole?

Should I go through the interview process and say nothing about my commitment?

Do you think I could still open the floor to conversations about an internship with them in the future?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all :)
