hello everyone! it’s been quite a while, a lot of restructuring on my part, but I wanted to share my updated version. I’m looking for more comp titles, as I’m not really sure for those, so please share any you have. Was suggested The Jasmine Throne in the past by someone else, but please feel free to offer any other examples.

Dear [Agent],

Vaani locks herself behind a facade.

Despite her appearance as the doting maidservant of the youngest princess, she wields magic of the forbidden goddess of death. The price paid for her own safety is watching Commander Riven and the king’s paladins force captives into confession, a personal retribution for not preventing her sister’s death years ago.

But when her closest friend is dragged away in chains, that same anguish shackles her all over again. She formulates a plan to upend the endless system of oppression and free everyone imprisoned—even if it means lying to the princess she serves, who, day by day, grows into the same passion for truth and empathy as her late sister.

On the brink of success, the princess becomes the very reason for Vaani’s failure at her discovery of the only temple dedicated to the goddess left in the city. Choosing between saving lives or the temple is simple, but it illustrates the true problem. Regardless of the amount of liberated prisoners still breathing, Riven and the king will always be there to suffocate any showcases of rebellion.

It’s then that it becomes clear: ending the inquisition must begin with terminating the king’s reign. But Vaani’s dwindling faith in the princess will require a choice.

Regicide will sever her loyalty and destroy her facade, but it’s likely the only key to unlock  freedoms she’s never known.

I am seeking representation for SPURNED, a standalone XX,XXX-word adult fantasy novel with series potential. It is presented in a dual third-person point of view from the perspectives of Vaani and Riven, combining a strong female protagonist for fans of The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri alongside a new pantheon and structured magic system for readers of __________ by _______.

I received my BA in Creative Writing from XXXX in XXXX. As an Indian-American forever-fan of fantasy, I hope that my debut novel will appeal to readers searching for POC representation in a world that fuses Indian culture and themes of Hindu mythology with the well-known hierarchy of western feudalism.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
