Farting should be normalized (within reason).
I don’t wanna sound like a weirdo or anything, but hear me out.
It’s a natural part of digestion, and holding it in all the time isn’t even that good for you. Your body literally has to release gas it’s not something you can just choose to never do.
And even if you try to hold it in or control it, at some point it’s going to happen anyway. You might be able to make it quieter or delay it, but you can’t avoid it forever.
But for some reason, we treat it like something you have to completely hide, even though everyone does it every single day. I feel like it should be normalized more like burping not something you do loudly on purpose, but also not treated like a huge deal.
I’m not saying people should just let it rip everywhere, otherwise public places would just be constant fart sounds, and yeah, the smell can definitely bother people. There’s obviously a time and place.
But if everyone does it, why are we bullying people for it?
And for some people it’s even harder to control. I’m lactose intolerant, so if I have a bad reaction, it’s already uncomfortable enough without having to stress about the sound or the smell on top of that.
If you cough, sneeze, or burp, nobody really cares. But one fart and suddenly it’s a huge deal.
At some point it should just be a quick “my bad” and move on instead of acting like it’s the worst thing ever.
Am I the only one who thinks this?
