There is a lot of buzz on some gaming Subs and Youtube about 'how bad' the new Starfox character designs look and I think it is completely overdone and trying to create controversy out of nothing.
The designs do not look bad, if you don't prefer them that's fine but there was clearly a lot of thought and design put into the more realistic take. I actually think based on the interfaces and their interactions in game that the designers and creators took a couple notes from fan things like "A Fox In Space" or "Event Horizon" which are generally beloved. After Zero bombed they clearly want to try a new feel for the franchise and I think in the context of the world they created I think they nailed it.
BUT!
I understand seeing the Mario Movie and the Fox they designed and he's great for the the movie and I can see a game starring that type of character, but the freak outs regarding the two new designs really gives "SONIC HAS BLUE ARMS!!!!! OMG!!!" Energy. Like dude, this franchise is one of the most mismanaged in Nintendo's library. Can't we just be happy they made a new game and it doesn't look like crap to play? I've heard accusations of 'Ugly Sonic' and I think that cheapens the very idea of 'Ugly Sonic'. You just don't like the design, which would be fine if you were normal about it.
Not the most hateful "I Hate" but there it is, I think people are addicted to internet drama and pretending they are professional character/world designers because they drew some fanart or need things to be exactly the way they imagine.
