Hi, I was recently accepted into Ringling. After asking for more aid so I can attend they gave me enough to afford the costs, but here’s the thing. I am an FL resident with my mom listed on my fafsa, she is not an FL resident. Because of this they are saying I’m a dependent and that she has to prove residency. The thing is she makes zero money and I’m not on her taxes, she’s only there cause I’m not born before 2003 and I don’t have like proof that she abused me or something like I do my dad who is not listed. I’m worried I’ll lose a lot of aid, even though it’s not state grants. I already emailed them showing that she makes zero and CANNOT be providing for me and that I’m an independent under FL law for tuition purposes, I’m just scared. I know my tuition will increase by about 8k already if I’m not, and I don’t know how much more they’ll take. I’ve also lived in FL for over a year this is very infuriating.

Also does anymore know if they be a pain in the ass about this cause technically it doesn’t even benefit them. And it’s after may 1 so I don’t know where I’ll go if not Ringling.
