Hi all- this little guy hit the window and after recuperating, was able to strongly fly away! I thought he was an indigo bunting at first, but realize he may be a blue grosbeak. Can anyone ID for sure?
Bird in West Tennessee!
Edit: This bird was released following rehabber communication + oversight, in addition to bird handling/banding experience - if this happens to you, follow those rehab experts and contact licensed wildlife rehabbers closest to you, particularly for Songbirds, if possible, in this case!
Also, consider WindowAlert/anti-collision stickers on your windows for birds. They shine in ultraviolet, which works similarly to a flashlight glow to birds, letting them know there is an obstacle in their path instead of open sky.
