Peavey Classic 50 Advice

I recently purchased a Peavey Classic 50 head along with a 4x10 speaker cabinet. It's a neat setup, and kinda unique I suppose since the cabinet was once the 4x10 combo version of the Classic 50 but was turned into just a speaker cabinet by a previous owner. Overall, it's in decent shape, considering what I paid for the whole rig.

Of course I tested it when I went to pick it up, but when I got it home and really started to play it at higher volumes, I started noticing a couple of things:

  1. At least one or two of the speakers are blown or damaged to some extent - the bass response is odd and sounds kinda farty/boomy at times. Not a big deal since I have another cab, but I'm planning to replace all the speakers at some point soon. Any recommendations for 10-inch speakers that would sound good with the Classic 50?

  2. I was told by the seller that they "recently had the tubes and caps replaced," which I took with a grain of salt. In addition to the unpleasant sounds coming from the speaker cabinet, I think there's a weird buzzing noise coming from inside the amp head. Perhaps a microphonic tube or something else that's loose inside of the chassis. Not super experienced with working on amps but I'd at least like to take a look at the tubes themselves, though I can't seem to figure out how to remove the back panel. There are two screws that I can find (one on each side of the amp), and while removing those does loosen the back panel, I can't figure out how to actually remove it. Any tips?
