I disassembled the DS Lite non-functional display unit
Had a few people interested in seeing what the inside of the DS Lite non-functional display unit looked like so I disassembled it very carefully.
The motherboard inside is bare except for any components that are visible to the outside (headphone jack, cartridge slot, etc), shoulder buttons and button membranes. The "screen" is a solid piece of metal with a black sheet, there is some foam to pad it from the motherboard. The stylus and GBA slot cover cannot be removed, they appear to be attached with rubber cement or a similar adhesive. Removing the screws from the stylus slot does not release it.
Unsure what the scribbles inside are, possibly signatures written with a pencil, but can't be certain. Although this could theoretically become a working DS Lite I am not going to make it functional because like it being an oddity and am a purist when it comes to OEM consoles not being modded.
