Urgently I need your advice.

Dear tourists and colleagues in the tourism field,

I would like to explain a difficult situation that recently happened during a Pamir Highway tour with 4 tourists from Bulgaria.

The total tour amount was €1550 for an 8-day itinerary: Dushanbe - Pamir Highway -Khujand- Dushanbe.

Unfortunately, during the Tajik-Kyrgyz border crossing, the driver, Ergash, faced a serious issue because of a VIN number mistake related to the vehicle documents. As a result, the border crossing was not possible. This situation damaged the original tour plan and created stress for both the tourists and myself as the operator.

I want to honestly mention that my personal operator fee from this entire tour was only around €255 (approximately $300). Despite the problem not being caused directly by me, I still tried my best to support the guests professionally and humanely.

The driver already gave the tourists €450 back at the border. During the trip, the driver also covered accommodation and food support worth around €30 per person.

Here is what was done to help them:

-After learning about the situation, I personally arranged a comfortable private car with a driver from my own pocket for 1250 TJS to safely bring them from Khujand back to Dushanbe.

-I also helped them enjoy additional sightseeing in Istaravshan, including the Lenin monument, to improve their experience despite the difficulties.

-Finally, I invited them for traditional Kurutob in Dushanbe as a gesture of hospitality and respect.

As someone who has been working in tourism for only 2 years, I openly told them that I care deeply about my reputation and always try to treat guests with honesty and responsibility.

However, after knowing my weakness point they start demanding an additional $400 from me in exchange for not writing a negative review online. I suggested that we could officially report the driver’s mistake to the tourist police in Dushanbe if they believed further action was necessary, but they refused and continued insisting on money instead.

At that point, I felt that the situation was becoming unfair and disrespectful toward me. Kindness and responsibility should not be misunderstood as weakness.

I fully understand that the tourists experienced inconvenience, and I sincerely regret the border issue. But I also believe I acted responsibly, professionally, and with humanity throughout the entire situation.

Now I am under serious pressure because the tourists have a flight tonight or tomorrow morning, and I have only 2-3 hours to decide whether I will pay the additional $400 they demanded. I am even considering borrowing money from friends because of this pressure.

That is why I am honestly asking: Should I continue borrowing money to satisfy demands that I feel are unfair, or should I accept whatever review they decide to leave and move forward with honesty and dignity?

Thank you for your understanding and advice.
