Trying elimination for persistent dysphagia - how long should it take for (any) relief?
Hi there - I've had dysphagia for 5 yrs now. Lots of doctors appts & testing and no clear answers. Finally heard about MCAS and it feels like a match - I have hEDS and POTS; this occurred a couple months after getting COVID in 2021; nickel allergy since birth; despite being in shape, never been able to do cardio without RED RED face and exhaustion (can do weightlifting just fine and strongly prefer lifting for that reason); constant nasal congestion throughout life; sensitive skin/rashes; migraine (usually just aura that seemed link to some degree with my period); dry lips, chronic throat-clearing; acid reflux; heart palpitations; tinnitus; etc. I do feel that the dysphagia is somehow from a "throat slightly too tight; tongue slightly too thick" feeling, but I've also been dealing with it for so long now that I can't actually remember how I used to feel. Which is its own depressing thing, lol.
Honestly, I'm not really married to the MCAS self-diagnosis, but it's a better fit for my odd all-over symptoms than anything else has been. But when I see posts on here about flares, I can't relate to that much -- I may have been dealing with this through my life, so it's always been my baseline; now I have this very acute symptom that's a lot worse.
Anyway, I'm trying to limit myself to the SIGHI list (0s only) for awhile to see if that helps. Will it really take 4+ weeks to notice anything?
