Question for teachers regarding elementary school cheating
Okok, so it’s exactly what the title sounds. I was caught cheating in elementary school when I was in like fifth grade, so probably 2010-2011 time frame? (Gen-Z kid here)
Started off simple with the teacher just pulling me and the kid I cheated off of to the side and giving us a talk. We then went inside and made nothing of it, but come next text, I’ve got the principal sitting behind me taking notes on my behavior!
I was mortified thinking I’d been reported and that this would follow me for the rest of my life, but as I finish my first year as an ivy-league grad student, I’m like “wait, was that meant to just scare me into never cheating? Showing me the illusion of consequences?
Idk what it was, but it worked! I’ve been a dedicated student since.
Any teacher want to shed some light on that? Is that normal?
