Hi everyone! My dog, he got diagnosed with CHF about a month ago when he had a syncope episode (after having an increased heart rate and hacking cough) and when they did the Cardiopet proBNP test, measuring the NT-proBNP that has the scale from 0-900, the results came back that his heat was at 4000!

He was prescribed furosemide 20 mg (half a tablet each day), Fortekor 5mg once a day, and Vetmedin 2.5 mg (twice a day) - he was 11.1 kg then and yesterday he is 10.1 kg

He was doing extremely well the last couple of weeks but yesterday he has no energy and his resting heart rate is at 42 and his legs are shaking. He woke up nor ally yesterday, ate his carrots and treat in the morning, I gave him his first half of furosemide at 11i in the morning with boiled chicken and after that everything went downhill. He started raising his right front paw, and I thought maybe he hurt it by jumping but then he went upstairs and became extremely lethargic. His resting heart rate the last couple of weeks has been at 26 but yesterday it shot up to 42. As the hours progressed he couldn’t lay down because every time he would try to lay he would look uncomfortable and in pain and he would sit up. I gave him his vetmedin at 1:30 in the afternoon yesterday with boiled chicken and he accepted it and that’s the last thing he had. After that he went to bathroom and had normal stool and then diarrhea. My parents and I were extremely worried so we took him to his vet and there he had more energy and had some treats reluctantly (which was weird because he eats everything and anything). The vet said it’s possible arthritis so he prescribed Meloxadin (10kg)but we didn’t give it to him because he hasn’t eaten at all. When we got home from vet he puked and became more lethargic and whenever he tries to get up it’s like his back legs hurt.

He tried to drink water many hours after that and puked right away and always puked and continued having diarrhea whenever he would drink water. We called the vet that we couldn’t give him the Meloxadin because he hasn’t eaten so they told us to wait over night and see how he reacts. This morning he drank water and it was mostly bile coming out and there was blood that looked like strawberry jam.

Today he is still the same, the breathing is still short and frequent, it looks like his back legs don’t have much strength and he does sighing sounds sometimes. He did drink some water and didn’t puke it around in the afternoon.

The vet called again and he says there’s nothing we can do, to wait and see because appetently he is maxed out in all the meds he can have but I am wondering if it’s his kidneys ? Or something in his stomach? He also said we can’t give him liquid furosemide because he already has medicine for that and he said that no IV fluids because he already could have fluid build up and it could be lethal.

He said to pick up gastrointestinal food and see if he eats it

I just don’t know what to do, I don’t want to wait when he is in clear pain but he’s not eating and giving him meds would make him throw up

Thank you
