Hey yall I recently got a M1 Garand and a 1917 Eddystone from CMP. The Garand had to be expert condition so I am planning on just field stripping and lubing what’s required. The Eddystone I am planning on taking it to a gun smith but in case I can’t find one within a reasonable range I was thinking of also field stripping and lubing. I don’t know if they have cosmoline on them or not so I would check for that too and remove/clean thoroughly. Thoughts? Tips? Thank you.

Should I test fire each one with a meter stick to make sure it doesn’t blow up in my face? Also planning on using 150gr 30-06 for both.
