Hello everyone, I’m from Toronto, Canada and I’m looking to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend. My girlfriend wants a 2.50-3 CT Radiant LAB diamond with a 18K yellow gold petite iced solitaire band. We’ve been shopping around and realized that Toronto is pretty expensive when it comes to engagement rings.
We’ve came across with a jeweller in Montreal that’s having a 20% off sale. The jeweller showed me a 2.57ct E-VVS2 Radiant lab diamond for $4600 before tax and the 18K gold band my girlfriend wants for $1596 before tax (these are prices with the 20% off subtotal). Originally my budget was $4500 before tax but the jeweller offered me $5500 all in before taxes which comes to $6323.63 CAD tax included (tax in Montreal is 14.975%).
I’m very skeptical now and not sure if I’m getting ripped off and actually getting a good deal. The jeweller told me the radiant lab diamond he found is perfect with the cut, table and depth percentages from the IGI report for a radiant diamond and that this diamond will be something my girlfriend wouldn’t need to ever upgrade her ring in the near future with endless compliments of how sparkly it is. The purchase comes with a 45 day money back guarantee with also a lifetime warranty for cleaning, one time resizing and if any of the small diamonds fall off on the band that they will replace it for free. I already put a $3000 deposit to hold the diamond so no one else purchases it. But now I’m having second thoughts if I’m paying way over priced or actually getting a good deal.
Any thoughts will be very helpful as I want to make sure if I’m spending thousands that this is something that’s actually worth this price.
