My fiancé’s father is really wanting to sell his house to us for 60k and live in the garage until we renovate the house and sell it. He is absolutely insistent that this can be done and his brother says he’s being delusional and it will probably cost at least 100k. We’re worried if this is even doable. Is this possible and if so, how much would it cost and how long would it take to renovate? We’re not planning on staying there for more than 5 years and we’re trying to reason with him. Otherwise, we’ll be looking at other houses.
