Hi all,

I bought this brass ring about 6 months ago. First pic is how it originally looked- nice and shiny.

Over the course of those 6 months, there has been a slow degradation of the shiny plating of the ring. The person who sold it to me told me that putting it in ketchup and polishing it with a cloth would restore it’s shine, but I haven’t been able to make it look anything like how it used to.

Is the change irreversible? I used Brasso and a sponge + cloth to try shining it (third picture), but it seems like maybe I waited too long to maintain it and that sheen is forever gone?
