Norwegian Eclogite Rough to Slabs
Nice day outside so I fired up my new saw! These should polish up nicely, though I'm tempted to stabilize at least one batch to see the results since it's quite crumbly.
The red/pink is almandine-pyrope garnet and the green is omphacite, but eclogite can also contain kyanite, quartz, rutile, phenakite, and microscopic diamonds as these were formed from basalt forced deep beneath the earth's crust as a result of the collision that formed the Scandinavian Mountains, and were then violently exhumed through tectonic activity, preserving the rocky matrix of crystals that developed under geologically intense pressure instead of slowly transforming them into serpentinite or common schist.
