Has anyone ever cried while researching a person?

I was researching my great-grandfather yesterday and I couldn't help but shed a few tears. I've heard his story from my mom, but I couldn't help but feel extremely sad when reading the hints I got.

He was a very depressed man. He was bullied in school due to being so tall at a young age (6'0), got denied being in the military despite really wanting to be a soldier, wasn't able to be treated due to depression not being properly understood at the time, never got promotions at his job despite working there for years, his mom and dad died around the same time, and his wife (my great-grandmother) was in a fatal car accident due to drunk driving since she was an alcoholic. He never left the home they had after she died. He loved her so much and never married another woman after she passed. Apparently he became an extremely angry man afterwards.

I read his death certificate and he took his own life with a gunshot to his right temple. He bled out for a few minutes before passing away. When I read the date of death, it was him and my great-grandmother's wedding anniversary. I wish he would've been able to experience a better life.

So for starters, my little sister's boyfriend (F16 + M16) had been living with us for about 2-3 years. He can become violent at times which was difficult to live with because he would start screaming and punching things. In our last house he actually punched a hole through the wall (we lived in a duplex and were renting). We knew that he had a gun but my parents thought it was fake without bullets since it's usual for kids their age to be waving fake guns online for attention.

Fast forward, we're now living in a proper house. He was extremely disrespectful (screaming on his games until 12 AM, having the TV up on high every night, etc) and even made my sister cook him food which he never ate. He never helped around the house and just sat in their bedroom playing his games. It got to the point where my sister admitted that she wanted to be his housewife growing up.

On February 20th of this year, it was about 7:30- 8:00 AM when the incident occurred. I was still asleep at this point as was a good majority of the house. My sister and her boyfriend were in the bathroom doing whatever they were doing (because they can never leave eachothers sides) and my step dad needed to use the restroom before work so he knocked and said he needed to use it. He told them they had 15 minutes before he would knock again. They still weren't out and so my step dad was hounding them to get out. Her boyfriend ended up saying "I'm waiting for the water to warm up to wash my hands" which sounds really stupid because anyone would just wash their hands and get out of the bathroom without a care. They both come out of the bathroom and start getting all mad at my step dad saying "You didn't have to be that bitchy about it" and "There's no need to create an issue over it". He said he needed to go to work.

Apparently, my sister's boyfriend ran upstairs after that and I assume that he took out the gun and him and my sister were wrestling with it when it shot through the floor. A .38 mm bullet shot right through the floor and into the washing machine. Where that shot went through was right infront of my parents door.

My room is directly next to hers and I can explain the sound as someone falling extremely hard on the floor. I got woken out of my sleep and thought nothing of it for some reason until my mom came storming up and screamed "Did you shoot a fucking bullet through the floor?" with my sister screaming back "The TV just fell!". They started arguing and my mom said that he was kicked out. She then went downstairs to go call the cops because they had a literal loaded gun in the house and my sister ran down screaming to stop her. She even stole her phone and ran. Me and my 2 older brothers (F18, M23, M27) had to literally hold her down onto the floor to get her to stop trying to practically tear the whole house apart because her boyfriend was getting kicked out for almost killing someone. They ran with the gun before the cops came and she hasn't been home since. I assume they chucked the gun somewhere like a ditch or a pond so there's no evidence that they did anything or have any connections to what we were about to find out.

A few days later, me and my oldest brother decided to go into her room to see if there was anything else. We went into the closet and found an expensive scope that shoots a red light at the target, a pistol grip, 2 sets of bullets with 4 bullets total (one shell and 3 unused), and under her bed was a box full of more bullets aswell as an expensive BB gun with casing to make the pellets look like bullets. She also had a journal in that box but we didn't read it. We also discovered that she had stolen someone's wallet along with their credit cards, ID, money, gift cards, and even SSN. She had stolen designer purses aswell. She had been scamming doordashers by claiming to the app that they didn't deliver the food so she was getting free food, she was trying to get her own family's SSNs and emails, etc. I genuinely don't know if she used any of my stuff now because she was stealing from us costantly.

I just don't even know how to properly process the whole situation. The fact she was stealing from people aswell as choosing her boyfriend over her own family almost being fatally wounded and the fact she had actual gear she bought for the pistol blows my mind. I'm starting to wonder if she was actually plotting to hurt the family with her boyfriend. My sister is very physically, mentally, and verbally abusive. She once dragged me onto the floor and tried to beat the shit out of me before aswell as threatening to kill me countless times. I know that she hates me the most.

It's been months and I'm still caught up on it. Every bang makes me flinch and I'm always scared of them coming back. She blocked all of us on everything so we can't even talk to her aswell as turned off her location on Life360 (we have a family plan) directly after we called the cops on her and her boyfriend. I genuinely believe she had ill intentions and that my step dad could've been killed that day.
