the women building the future of AI security don't get talked about enough. anyone in SF want to party with us on June 4?
can we talk about how many incredible women are doing genuinely foundational work in AI security right now and how little visibility it gets?
i work in this space and i see it up close. the research is serious, the stakes are real, and the women doing it are not getting their flowers anywhere near enough. that's the thing i want to fix, at least in some small way.
i'm helping organize a conference next month (CTRL+AI, June 4, SF Presidio, full disclosure i work at Virtue AI who's running it) and the thing i'm most proud of is who's at the center of it.
our CEO is Bo Li, Abbasi Associate Professor at UIUC and one of the most cited researchers in adversarial machine learning. our other co-founder is Dawn Song, Professor at UC Berkeley and one of the people who basically wrote the intellectual foundation this field is built on. two of Virtue AI's four co-founders are women. not as a statement. just because they're the best people doing this work.
and that's kind of the whole point. the women in this space aren't here because someone was trying to hit a diversity checkbox. they're here because they built the room everyone else is now trying to get into.
the conference itself is focused on the hardest unsolved problems in AI security right now:
- how enterprise teams are actually adapting controls for AI agents in production (not in theory)
- where governance frameworks crack under real deployment pressure
- what researchers are finding about emerging attack surfaces practitioners haven't caught up to yet
- how infra, product, and security teams can actually collaborate instead of talking past each other
- what AI-native security programs realistically look like 12 to 24 months from now
the speaker mix puts frontier researchers next to the people actually accountable for these decisions at scale, which is a combo that's rarer than it should be.
if you're a woman working in AI, security, or anywhere in between, DM me and I'll get you in the room...
