Hi
I had a dual lead ICD fitted in April and cardiac ablation in August 2025. All has gone well, and I was given the all clear to start exercising again late last year. I was advised to avoid sudden movements with my arms raised, and to generally take it easy, but other than that to exercise normally.
I use weight machines in the gym and do Pilates. I feel comfortable with both. In the gym I do shoulder presses, lateral rows, chest press and pull downs (and a bunch of non arm / shoulder stuff). The weight is not that big but i do like to push myself a bit, and I ensure it is a controlled movement. With Pilates, there is lots of stretching and moving the arms through a range of positions, positions like the plank etc.
Thinking more of the device and the leads rather than my underlying cardiac health, will I only know I’ve over done it when it is too late? Would I know if I have compromised a lead and where it enters a vein, or the vein itself? Would the remote monitoring of my device pick anything up?
Thanks
