Unknown plastic fiber pieces found in engine bay of my 2026 Volvo XC90 – mouse nest material or car part?

Hi everyone,
Today I found several strange plastic/fiber pieces in the engine bay of my 2026 Volvo XC90, placed on top of the battery cover.

The pieces look like:
thin translucent plastic tubes/sleeves,
with soft black brush-like fibers inside,
no visible copper or metal,
all very similar in size and shape.
The car works perfectly:
no warning lights,
no charging issues,
no electrical problems,
no visible damaged wiring anywhere.
At first I feared it could be part of a wiring harness, but after closer inspection it doesn’t really look like automotive wiring because there’s no conductor inside.
My current theory is:
A mouse or other animal may have carried these into the engine bay as nesting material.
Has anyone seen something similar before?
Would appreciate any opinions before I take half the car apart looking for nonexistent damage 😅
