Temporary move abroad — best online high school option for 1-2 years?
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get some advice from parents or students who have experience with online high schools. My son is in a somewhat unusual situation, and we’re trying to figure out the best path for him academically.
We’ll be moving abroad for about 1–2 years, and during that time he would rather not enroll in a local school there, mostly because the move is temporary and the plan is for him to come back to the CA U.S. and continue at a regular in-person high school here. We want to make sure he keeps learning, stays on track academically, and can transition back into a traditional American high school without major issues when he returns.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What would you recommend in this case? Would an accredited online high school be the best option, or is there another path we should consider?
If you do recommend online school, I’d really appreciate specific recommendations — which schools are actually good, what you liked/disliked about them, and roughly how much they cost.
Thanks in advance for any honest feedback)
