About a year ago, I made a post about the scene where Julie and Elgin went to the storage room and started trying on outfits. That scene looked like they were just having fun and hanging out, but I mentioned in that post that the way it was shot made it feel like it was meant to tell us something significant. And as we all know now, the man in yellow can use outfits that belonged to others to shapeshift into them.
This time around, I noticed that they kept the camera focused on Victor’s drawing for a bit too long. They even stopped the frame on it when Tabitha put it in the drawer and picked up the lighthouse drawing (which also got some pretty good screen time when she left it in Donna’s room).
And that, ladies and gentlemen, led me to a theory based on one of my favorite video games, Alan Wake. Not sure if you guys are familiar with it, but it revolves around:
***SPOILER ALERT FOR ALAN WAKE***
a writer who creates a story that turns into reality. There’s also a dark entity he created that comes to life and starts writing to change the direction of the story. It basically becomes a battle of who can outwrite the other and shape the ending the way they want. I feel like From might be doing something similar with all the stuff Miranda drew before getting there (she even drew the man in yellow) and all of Ethan’s stories that are now coming to life. So I think the way the survivors will start fighting back against the place is through art (drawing, writing, etc.). That’s how they might begin defining their own rules.
Another thing worth mentioning is that Alan Wake (the writer) ends up getting trapped in a pocket dimension similar to Fromville called The Dark Place, and the way he escapes is through a lake…
Sorry for the beefy post, I thought it was only going to be a few lines, but here we are lol
