Signature 440

The line space lever appears to be missing a pin, which makes it sit just above the platen knob. I have a less-than-elegant way to fix it, but I would like to preserve the look of it (if possible).

For the keys, they're all connected and function as they're supposed to, but some of the keys sit lower (they don't appear to be bent). Theyre also covered in yellowish grime that wont come off with rubbing alcohol. The 7 key, as well, is actually broken internally (the plastic piece that wraps around the metal).

I do use my machines and thus prefer functionality over cosmetic preservation. I also want to strive for longevity, and I know that means treating and cleaning the machine the way it was meant to be treated and cleaned.

How can I go about fixing and cleaning this baby up?

I've slowly been building my classics collection, and I am taking a break from purchasing genre fiction for now. A lot of these I haven't read, and I'm working on getting the "school mandated" classics because I haven't read most of them either.

I just really want to expand what I read, and I want to do that starting with classics.

Out of the classics I own, I love The Giver. It was probably one of the only few I did read in school that really stuck with me.

I would love to hear your recommendations and why you love them so I can add them to my library!

(Not pictured: The Sagas of the Icelanders)

(Ignore the non-fiction; I ran out of space where I have my non-fiction shelved.)
