Need honest advice on US B1/B2 visa interview + chances.

I 26M have been working full-time with a US startup for ~2.5 years now. For compliance stuff in India, I’m a sole proprietor (GST registered), and they’re basically my only client. They’re inviting me for a team meetup/outing, fully sponsored.

My profile:

  • No travel history
  • 1 US visa rejection in 2024
  • Income ~ $6250/month
  • Own property in NCR

What I think went wrong last time:
I told the officer I “own a company” (since sole proprietorship), but also said my only client is the US company inviting me and they ask how many people work in my Company, I said 0. I feel that made things look weird or inconsistent.

Now nothing major has changed except longer tenure and more stability.

Should I just present myself as a contractor/employee working with them instead of stressing the “I own a company” part? Technically I am a sole proprietor, but practically I just work with this one company.

Looking for real opinions:

  • How should I frame this cleanly in the interview?
  • Do I even have decent chances with no travel history + prior rejection?

Would appreciate blunt feedback or similar experiences.

If that matters, I got a Netherland Visa last year for conference but couldn't travel as passport arrived late.
