This might be a long one but I feel the context is necessary! I’ve been working for my full time, corporate job for 9 years. When we were a small startup company, my employer asked me to make a business Venmo profile for the company. Of course, this was always linked to my personal profile as that is the only option. I am not an owner of this business, just an employee in their accounting dept.
Aside from this, I am the co-owner + accountant of a completely unrelated nonprofit organization. We use Venmo to collect member dues every month as well as donations and other transactions. Because I already had my full time job’s Business Account linked to my Venmo, I had to have one of our other co-owners set up the Nonprofit Account on her own Venmo. However, she is not the accountant for our non profit and the communication gets difficult every month when she and I have to go back and forth discussing what transactions have occurred.
I just asked Venmo to cancel the business account associated with my personal profile, and they informed me that a business account cannot be re-opened once it is closed. So now I am frustrated and slightly panicking…. If I have my co-owner delete our current Nonprofit Account from her personal profile, we won’t be able to create a new account attached to me?
Seems like a difficult and unproductive process for businesses. What are you supposed to do when someone, who was the manager of a business Venmo account, leaves a business? That business can never have a Venmo account in the future under a new user? What are our options here?
