Hi everyone, planning a two week trip in the second half of July to the cities mentioned above with my sister and potentially also my boyfriend. We would be really interested however in spending some time in a more rural part of Japan that is convenient to get to from either of the 3, maybe by the sea and ideally less touristy, or an overnight onsen/ryokan type of resort (ideally on the less expensive side). If anyone has recommendations (I've had Wakayama mentioned to me but I'm not fully convinced) on any places or resort advice, I'd really appreciate it, or even some resources to do my own research.
