How to Keep Jyeshtha Mangalvar Vrat Correctly?

Tomorrow is the second Jyeshtha (Jetha) Mangalvar vrat, and I kept the first one last week.

For my first vrat, I followed what I found online:

Woke up early and took a bath

Lit a sesame oil diya

Performed puja

Had fruits and milk

Ate only fruits during the day

In the evening, I ate aloo sabzi (without onion or garlic, cooked with sendha namak) and atta halwa made with gur

Later, I read that some people say salt should not be consumed at all during Jyeshtha Mangalvar vrat, while others say sendha namak is allowed. I also read that atta halwa with gur is commonly offered and eaten before sunset.

I am feeling a bit confused because there seem to be different traditions and rules.

Could someone please explain the proper way to observe Jyeshtha Mangalvar vrat?

Specifically:

  1. Is sendha namak allowed, or should all salt be avoided?
  2. Is atta halwa made with gur permitted?
  3. What foods are generally allowed and not allowed?
  4. Are there any important rituals or rules I should keep in mind?

I sincerely want to observe this vrat correctly and respectfully.

Thank you so much for your guidance. 🙏
