Produce Lead is leaving, how can I prepare?
Heya everyone! I'm the backup leader for the produce department in my store, and I've been in the position for a little under a year. There's been quite a lot of ups and downs, especially preparing to get enough information in my brain to potentially take over the department.
My lead texted our group chat this morning basically saying he was going to put in his two weeks if the information he got today was true, which I'm slightly confused about but understand his personal life has been actually going uphill recently. And quite frankly I don't blame him for wanting to leave quicker than the 3 months he gave our management.
Either way, I'll either have to take over or temporarily take over until another lead fills the position more than likely. I'm a bit nervous because our store is a higher selling store despite our size being so small, and we usually just try to focus on sales more than anything. We are understaffed for the $40K weekends we usually get.
I know how to do the ad changes, I know how to do signs, I know the morning processes (although I wish I were quicker with them, but I hate not being thorough). I do accurate counts, although I'm trying to personally figure out why our balances are still so out of whack despite no change history and regular counts. I know how to do inventory, although I've only done it twice.
I can't help but feel like I'm under prepared though. My store leader always expects perfection and I'm worried I'm not going to be perfect, especially only being a year in. Is there any specifics I could overlook during this time, or any tips on how to do stuff I already know better? I'm not sure who the new lead will be, and am definitely worried if I take the position who my new backup will be as I'm usually the one to pick up everyone's slack.
