am i overthinking centrifuge tubes for freezing?
i know about freezing coffee to help keep them longer than on shelf. i bought 3 bags of coffee but don't drink every day so i thought about freezing. at the cafe i worked at, we froze in centrifuge tubes in a zip lock bag. i'm adopting this method as i have read on reddit too
however i bought the tubes from aliexpress. they had a weird out-of-factory type of smell but i didn't think much...until now. i dosed out and put into my cupboard to degas a bit more. but as i read up on it, i forgot to check if these are food safe.
the material just says "plastic" and not specific on if it's food safe. was i also meant to wash them out? i didn't do so because i live in a hard water area so leaving them to airdry will just accumulate hard water marks. and wiping them down individually is a pain. will that smell affect my beans in any way?
is it too late...? or am i overthinking and it will be fine? i don't think the cafe washed out the tubes and don't think they're expensive ones either but no one died from their coffee 😅
