Hello all,

I have just recently gotten my first BP revolver, a Uberti 1851. I had researched it and found some recommendations from people across the internet about what would likely need to be done out of the box. I have SlixShot nipples for it and I also got a Wolff spring for the action (which I’ve yet to install). I read about getting a 5mm split washer for the arbor hole if the arbor wasn’t long enough (which it wasn’t; the barrel contacted the frame when fully seated w/o the cylinder).

This is where I may out myself as a moron and would like some guidance/knowledge. I put the washer in and there’s just baaarely a gap between the barrel and frame at the alignment pins (enough to see light thru but that’s about all). I also filed the forcing cone a little to avoid it rubbing the cylinder. As it stands, the gap is at a .008 on half cock / cylinder pulled back. But when it’s fully cocked, the cylinder contacts the forcing cone. The cylinder also rubs the forcing cone on half cock if the cylinder is not pulled back by hand. Is this normal to have them rubbing? — everything I’ve read online says they should not have contact.

Also, if it were yours, would you worry about the fine, fine gap between the barrel/frame at the alignment pins? I think I’ve heard you’re supposed to slightly peen the wedge to force it together?… this is something I was hoping to avoid if at all possible.

TIA
