Nikita Bier strikes again, this time by issuing pauses to monetisation of different accounts without plausible explanations. These are one of the ongoing bad policies by Nikita Bier to demonetise and reduce the value of creators.

  • Nikita Bier recently announced the end of Communities on X, stating that they would be deprecated and moved to group chats. However, he later reversed course and allowed streamers to keep their Communities.
  • I believe this is unfair to regular users of the platform who do not have the influence or star power of those streamers and are being forced to lose their Communities. It gives the impression of favoritism and nepotism, which has been one of the biggest criticisms surrounding X for a long time.

  • Nikita Bier announces the platform's biggest overhaul to date with Grok-powered niche feeds. Premium subscribers on iOS can now pin over 75 personalized topics like design, robotics, or space directly to their home tab, replacing the traditional "For You" experience with AI-curated discovery.
  • Meanwhile, X employee Allegra Jacchia has confirmed that creators on the platform only earn ad revenue from impressions generated within the main For You feed. Responding to a query about whether views from the newly launched Custom Timelines contribute to monetization, Jacchia stated, "Only For You."

  • Nikita Bier announces X Communities will officially shut down on May 6 due to low usage and high spam, replacing them with joinable XChat group links. Following a massive creator uproar including from iShowSpeed’s 150K+ Speed Gang, X has already raised group chat limits to 500, with a goal of 1,000 members by May 30 to facilitate the migration.
  • Nikita Bier publicly dismissed concerns from creator iShowSpeed regarding the shutdown of X Communities by using internal data to highlight low engagement rates. While iShowSpeed argued that the move would disrupt his "Speed Gang" community of over 154,000 members, Bier countered by revealing that the group averaged only 287 active members per day since April 14th.
  • This interaction suggests that X is prioritizing active daily participation over total member counts as it forces a migration toward group chats. By framing the transition as data-driven, the platform is signaling that large but passive communities will no longer be supported in their current format, regardless of their total reach.
  • Meanwhile, community notes disagree with this pointless update.
