So I'm an English Creative Writing major going into my senior year, and this fall I'm going to be doing my capstone project, which for my major is a collection of creative writing (either a collection of poetry or a short story or two). I was originally planning on doing a collection of poetry, which was what I pitched in my proposal and talked about with my advisor when we met recently to discuss my plans.

But as I think about it more I feel like doing a short story actually speaks to me more, it would explore similar themes I was planning to do in the poetry collection but through a different angle (a horror story instead of personal reflective poetry lol). Am I allowed to change my idea now given that it's not last-minute or during next semester, or am I locked into the idea I initially suggested when I sent in my proposal?
