Moving from Manchester to Birmingham – Area suggestions for a family? (UoB commute)
Hi everyone,
I’m planning a move from Manchester to Birmingham soon and would love some local insight. I’m looking for a **2-bedroom house** with a budget of roughly **£900–£1,050 pcm**.
My main priorities are:
- **Family-friendly vibe:** Good parks and decent schools nearby.
- **UoB Access:** I need to be close to the University of Birmingham or have an easy/short commute (bus, train, or cycle).
- **Proximity to a Mosque:** Within walking distance or a very short drive.
I’ve seen **Edgbaston** and **Selly Oak** mentioned a lot in my research, but I’m worried Edgbaston might be out of my budget and Selly Oak might be too student-heavy for a family.
Are there specific pockets of these areas (or nearby ones like Moseley, Stirchley, or Balsall Heath) that you’d recommend?
Appreciate any tips on hidden gems or areas to avoid. Thanks in advance, fam!
