Which college should i opt for, genuinely interested in Core ECE, only in Bangalore.

My current options

PES EC ECE(JEE), RR ECE (JEE borderline) , Amrita ECE (AAA & JEE), Dayanand ECE (KCET) , BMSIT ECE (KCET) , Manipal ECE , BIT ECE (KCET)

I am likely to write Gate (planning for pg) given the job situation in core ECE . Not interested in CSE related or outside Bangalore opportunities.

Also, Writing Comedk & hoping for MSRIT & BMS ECE.

Jee : close to 90, KCET : 7k to 12k

Long read...

1.Many colleges have MOUs with companies to onboard a fixed number of students each year. In return, companies set up labs & leverage student resources. Students are put on probation after joining that company & after about 6-12 months, a significant number are fired based on their performance & project availability in the company.

2.Placement statistics published by private colleges are not always reliable , as most are not independently audited.

3.Colleges use social media for promotion. There is a lot of hype created, you will see average colleges claiming 90+ JEE percentile intake as a norm. In reality, many seats are filled at much lower percentiles. Give it a try. Also, in individual college groups, you will notice negative marketing tactics, subtle comparisons, planted comments, selective success stories & sometimes even discouraging narratives about competing colleges to influence decisions. It's difficult to trust anyone these days.

4.You will find plenty of both positive & negative comments for every college, making it hard to judge the real picture. There are disgruntled people everywhere. The best way to assess is to visit the campus & speak to a few actual students & their parents via your contacts.

5.Every college will have a few disgruntled or underperforming or problematic professors. Understand, many of them are overworked , work with not so great salary & they know good students will land in great jobs where the salaries are a lot higher than they get. This pb is unavoidable, you just need to work around it. There are always good & bad. Also, in engineering colleges, learning is not just from professors, you will have to learn a lot on your own. Many topics taught are far from real world scenarios, so you need to slog to get closer to industry standards.

6.Be careful of middlemen and “counsellors” that come in various forms. Some falsely claim to be industry veterans, others ask you to DM, click links or fill out forms. This is very risky. Always verify information through official college websites, contact colleges directly for details (including management seats) & make payments only to the college through official channels.

Bottom line: Be cautious, do not rely on marketing alone & do your own research. I will not be naming specific colleges. Pls don't ask me 🙏

Good luck 👍
