Looking at some of the trades that led the Habs to having killer depth.
Watching the highlights of the game yesterday and it got me thinking: how did the middle 6 for the Habs get here?
#Alex Newhook
- The Montreal Canadiens acquired Alex Newhook from the Colorado Avalanche for a 2023 1st round pick (#31) (Mikhail Gulyayev), a 2023 2nd round pick (#37) (Ethan Gauthier), and Gianni Fairbrother.
#Zac Bolduc
- The Montreal Canadiens acquired Zack Bolduc from the St. Louis Blues for Logan Mailloux.
#Kirby Dach
- The Montreal Canadiens acquired Kirby Dach from the Chicago Blackhawks for a 2022 First Round Pick (#13) (Frank Nazar) and a 2022 third round pick (#66) (Gavin Hayes). They aquired the first round pick by trading Alexander Romanov and a 2022 4th round pick (#98) (Isaiah George).
#Jake Evans
- Drafted in the 7th round, 27th pick (207th overall).
#Alexandre Texier
- Waived by St. Louis in November 2025 for contract termination, picked up by the Habs 3 days later for a 1 year, $1 million contract.
#Josh Anderson
- Aquired from Columbus for Max Domi and a 2020 third round pick (#78) (Samuel Knazko).
#Jakub Dobeš
- Drafted in the 5th round with the 12th pick (136th overall).
#Lane Hutson
- Drafted in the 2nd round, 30th pick (#62 overall). This pick was acquired by trading Brett Kulak for William Lagesson, the 2022 conditional second round pick in question, and a 2024 seventh round pick (#224) (Rasmus Bergqvist).
#Mike Matheson
- The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired Jeff Petry and Ryan Poehling from the Montreal Canadiens for Mike Matheson and a 2023 fourth round pick (#110) (Bogdan Konyushkov).
#Phillip Danault
- The Montreal Canadiens acquired Phillip Danault from the Los Angeles Kings for a 2026 2nd round pick.
The only one that stings is losing the possibility of Nazar, however all the other trades and signings seemed to have worked out. What do you all think?
