1-60 recommended for everything?

1-60 recommended for everything?

I’ve been looking to compete in a tournament as a new player, and checking out the best combos for everything the answer always seems to be 1-60 for the ratchet (or 9-60 on the rare chance it’s a defensive bey)

My question is, since there are no repeating parts; what is the second best ratchet? If you can’t have repeating parts I don’t know what to do.

I have a 1-50 from my Bahamat blitz, is this better because of its lower height? From everything I see 60 is preferred because it’s lower, so isn’t 1-50 lower overall therefore better?

My current thought for the deck was:

Bey-ratchet-bit

Wizard rod 1-60 hexa
Soar phoenix ? Rush
(Last spot up in the air, any suggestions? I don’t have a shark scale because I can’t get my hands on one, I’m thinking Sabre)

I was also thinking of swapping hexa bit from wizard for ball, and using mummy curse as my 3rd with hexa.

Also, is having regular rush instead of low rush a huge disadvantage? I don’t believe I have a low rush.

Thank you for any help.

Beginner's Beyblade Stock Combo Reviews "How Good Are They" (From a Beginner)

Hi r/BeybladeX,

Over the last couple weeks I have become infatuated with Beyblade x . This community has helped me significantly making my purchases to get into this hobby and I wanted to give something back to those who are just starting out like me. This lead to the idea of doing a beginner review thread so that others may see and hopefully have a more updated (albeit biased) source than I did.Almost all of my pre-go shooting knowledge came from googling "How good is X beyblade in beyblade x" and clicking on the first Reddit thread that popped up. You guys were so helpful indicating which beys stood out, and what part was worth getting, but some of the threads were years old. I appreciate you all very much and thank you.

How did I Test Them?:

Below you will find my review as a beginner for each stock combo I have purchased the last 2 weeks. I used a Green Wizard Rod with the Orange Hell's Hammer's ratchet and Hexa bit as the Target Dummy. I used a mix of the Hasbro Standard Stadium, and the Drop Attack Stadium (which is significantly worse fun wise). I would use 2 winder launchers, launching the Wizard Rod first, and then launch the bey I was testing second. Using this formal testing, and anecdotal evidence from battles with various people who also used my beys I came up with each review. This is not a competitive guide, and is dealing strictly with stock combos except from the testing bey.

Please note that I am a beginner and do not know any launching techniques. I also do not have the official TT stadium, so that may have skewed how the beys performed. These ratings are based on completely anecdotal evidence I have from my battles as a new player would experience them, and are not based on competitive prowess. As I have read pull strength matters for reference I am a 280lb powerlifter.

Stock Bey Reviews:

Green Wizard Wand 11/10:

I had read, and read about how broken wizard rod was. I had watched multiple youtube videos stating that it was the best of the best. You hear all of this and say "Well it can't possible be that good". You'll be wrong. Out of the box this easily outspun, and conquered every other bey I had. Sure, it lost a few points here and there due to pockets or extreme finishes, but it's size also prevents that, and lets it jump out of the pockets FREQUENTLY while NEVER bursting. How good this thing is, is ridiculous.

Obsidian Shell 3/10:
When looking this one up, I had seen it documented multiple times that this bey is a good ratchet sniper. This bey will shoot right to the middle of the stadium which is wonderfully consistent, but then it will do.....nothing. Most battles just end up with this thing getting out-spun, and the lack of variance makes it not fun either.

Blue and Yellow Dran Buster 4/10:

One of the beys I was most excited for and reading about it previously being a meta attacker was exciting. I was expecting big things, but the stock combo itself hadn't bursted any other beys. The attacks were weak, and the stamina was extremely low. I'm sure it would change if you put new parts on it, but out of the box, not so great.

Wriggle Kraken 6/10:
It's performance was middling, 6/10 bey all around, but its appearance is S+, just an amazing color scheme and shape. It was the first bey to arrive for me, and it really showed how much taller the CX line is, compared to the rest of the lines being made. CX I've read is way weaker than the rest of the lines, and they do feel a lot looser when put together (shakiness of parts), but I think starting out you should buy at least one just to see how different they are (maybe don't make that one wriggle kraken unless you like the colors like I do).

Black Keel Shark 1/10:

If you're going to get Keel shark, do not get the black version from hasbro. the blade hits extremely hard, that being said; it comes with the quake bit. Anyone as soon as they open a quake tip will immediately know it's bad because of the ridiculous shape. When people tell you to stay away from it, they are right; go for a different stock version.

Green Shark Edge (Deck Set) 7/10:

As mentioned above, this thing hits like a truck. sometimes the recoil causes it to self KO, which can be problematic. This one can make any battle feel exciting too, because it is the aggressor.

Orange Blue Sphinx Cowl 5/10:

Online from what I saw, people love saying this one is bad, but it really does hold it's own outside of the most meta beylades (Wizard, Soar Phoenix, Sterling Wolf etc). It feels heavy in the hand, even if it is outclassed in weight, and other beys have trouble moving it. It's average stamina is the real crux of the combo leading to some outspins.

Green Lance Knight 5/10:

This bey will burst from you launching it. if you look at it wrong it will burst. if it smells an attack nearby it will burst. If it doesn't burst, it beats most middle of the line beys.

Purple and Blue Shinobi Shadow 4/10:

Not as bad as people say. It is ultra light, but sometimes it can win just by getting knocked out of the way while the other bey ruins it's own stamina/self KO's. I didn't use this one much, because even with the plastic tips, the beys will ruin the stadium, the metal tip (which is banned in most tournaments) I imagine will absolutely ruin your set up, but I didn't let it get to that point.

Purple Ghost Circle 4/10:

I read that this bey is fun because it's light and gets knocked around easy like Shinobi Shadow above. It does make for pretty entertaining battles when an attack beyblade that is particularly heavy is absolutely launching it in the stadium, but that will get old fast. Unless you're going to take this beyond stock, nothing really to write home about.

Redish Orange Wizard Arrow 6/10:

Honestly if there was a default skin of a beyblade, I feel like this would be it. It is not too heavy, not too high stamina, not too weak, not too unbalanced. It's like the free character you get when you first start a video game, not horrible, but not broken.

Blue White Pegasus Blast 2/10 Performance 10/10 value:

I'm going to get a lot of flack for this, because this bey's blade is meta, but the stock combo is absolutely clown shoes. This bey has the stamina of a fat child walking up 20 flights of stairs, it's heavy, and it shows it. Buying this is ultimately good value, because the blade is Meta, and you get a winder launcher. When you first launch it, you will literally think "That was it?".

Black Pink Bahamut Blitz 7/10:

I won't lie to you and say this thing was getting a lot of points off on wizard rod, but it was ABUSING it. The Stock of this bey was like a nuke, unfortunately those big hits didn't really amount to anything most of the time. It's hard to get, and you will instantly see why people want it.

Yellow Green Stun Medusa 3/10:

I read this was supposed to be a rework of shinobi shadow. In trying to fix shinobi shadow, they removed the fun from it, and just made it a worse bey. Don't get me wrong, it's not significantly worse or even worse in statistical sense, but it is definitely less fun and memorable. One of the few I can safely say avoid.

Purple Chain Incendio 3/10:

Imagine "Wizard Rod we have at home", and then imagine slightly under that. Takes hits moderately well, but something in me wants to keep comparing this particular bey to wizard rod. Overall, I liked it, and was happy about the purchase, but it was outshined.

Red Blue Impact Drake (Drop Attack Stadium) 6/10:

Reading about it, I was pretty excited for this bey, but I think it's a bey that has a high skill ceiling. Despite my understanding that the stock combo is good, Ween using it the first time it would do literally nothing but get a couple weak hits and run out of stamina instantly and this continued for 80% of its usage. After a while specific launches pocketed other beys pretty consistently, but that might've been random chance.

Orange Golem Rock 6/10:

Not as good as the posts/reviews you will hear will lead you to believe, but it still is a very solid bey. If it makes it to stabilize in the center, it can tank hits with very low recoil. Whether it makes it to the center definitely feels like a 50/50 (could probably be increased with launching strats). Happy I purchased and I love it, it's just not as good as they say (or perhaps was previously).

Green Hover Wyvern (Drop Attack Stadium) 8/10:

Exceeded expectations. Many of the meta attackers/formerly meta attackers were failing in my eyes, and not showing me the dominance of attack type beys that was said to be plaguing the meta. When I used hover wyvern, it not only hit hard but it had shown results as well with bursts and extreme finishes without throwing itself out of the ring. Very good bey, and it sucks that you have to buy the drop attack to get it, but I do recommend it.

Red Soar Phoenix (With String Launcher) 10/10:

unrelated to the bey, the string launcher sucks turboween. You will still use it, because it is way more convenient than ripcord based launchers, but you will get no RPM.

That being said, the actual bey is fantastic. It blows my mind Shark Scale is being scalped and this isn't. Hover Wyvern is an amazing bey, and this feels half a step above it. This is currently very easy to find standalone as well, and "relatively" cheap, which makes me think this is an absolute must buy before they become scarce. Huge downside is the paint chips super easily.

Yellow Tail Viper 2/10:

The Viper aesthetic is the only thing you're really getting out of this bey. It's not horrible, but it's not even stand out in the way that Wizard Arrow is by being average at everything. It just feels slightly below average, the bey you forget about but don't hate.

Orange Red Hammer Incendio 4/10:

I had read this bey delivers big hits, but in my experience I didn't really see them. Against weaker beys, Hammer will hold it's own, and give it a decent romping, but you wont see it performing well against above average beys, or bullying them to any extent like Phoenix, Bahamut, and Hover do. This does come with one of the best bits for Wizard Rod (Hexa), if you expect to customize your beys.

Yellow Wizard Wand 10/10:

I won't bore you with the same speech as above about Wizard Rod, but this variant feels significantly weaker than the green version. That being said, still outperforms other beys with ease.

Blue Dran Dagger (Deck Set) 7/10:

An exciting attacker, but not a good attacker. It will hit the opposing bey a ton, but it will most likely surmount to nothing. I know the previous description will make you think it's bad, but as a stock combo against other stocks/hexa wizrod, it seemed above average.

Cyan Unicorn Sting 5/10:

I read everywhere this was a good bey at one time, not anymore. I don't see the stock version of this bey winning often. When it hits, it hurts itself. When it gets hit, it easily gets Xtreme finished or pocketed. I haven't seen it burst though.

Yellow Black Emperor Might (Deck Set) 4/10 performance 7/10 value:

I was so excited for this bey because of how it looked online. In person it looks way more....plastic, and not as grand as the videos/pics made it look. That being said, has pretty good stamina for how chunky it is. I use it exclusively in defense mode (it has 2), and it loses a decent bit, but I always feel like I want to use it still. It also burst easier than other beys, not all the time, just easier. Lock chip is worth it for the extra weight added for any other bey that can use it, because this is one of the few metal ones in existence from my understanding. Deck set is an overall pretty good buy, unless you want to be top of the line competitive.

Purple Shield Knight 6/10:

Think budget Golemn Rock. it has a good look to it and holds its own pretty well if it gets lucky on positioning, but it doesn't hold it's ground like Golem Rock is able to, and it does not give off very good attacks. I would say it's like Wizard Arrow's passive counterpart. The Default Skin of defense.

Purple Tusk Mammoth (Xtreme Battle Set) 2/10:

I saw a lot of hype about this online, it seems to be pretty hard to get outside of the hasbro standard beyblade x stadium. This is a very below average beyblade, it hasn't done anything outstanding for me. I forget I have it, because I never search for it. Unless you want it because it looks pretty cool, I wouldn't bother going out of your way to buy it over other things. Even against middling beys, it struggles.

Green Gale Wyvern 2/10:

Absolutely love the way this thing looks, but it's pretty light, and not in a fun way like ghost circle. This would probably be the Bey you would loan out and not care if someone didn't give it back. Like the bargain bin bey that everyone has because it was so cheap you just got it because you couldn't ignore the deal. This may be too harsh, but it's really not a notable bey except for the way it looks.

Yellow Hell's Scythe 6/10:

Unrelated to it's performance, mine has this weird grainy texture to it like it's low quality. has pretty good stamina, but I think that's because it's on one of the most meta bits (ball) and not an inherent trait of the stock combo itself. I enjoy using this one, except for the texture. I wouldn't expect to win any real matches with it against the meta champions.

Orange Talon Ptera 7/10:

Surprisingly good. No one really talks about this thing unless you search for it, it seems, but I had good anecdotal results with it. Upon searching, others seemed to agree. Of course I wouldn't lie and say this is going to be meta any time soon, but it's a good bey that should be considered. Apparently it's bit is pretty good value as well.

Red Dran Sword 5/10:

This feels like a Soar Phoenix before they knew what they were doing with design. One thing I love about it, is that the contact points are really prominent. I think it over all is just a worse Dagger Dran, but I can see the argument for this bey to see play for fun reasons. It's enjoyable to use when you're not expecting to win every game.

Yellow Blue Tackle Goat 2/10:

From what I hear this is a retool of Obsidian Shell. It's not as boring as Obsidian shell, but it still lacks a lot in terms of fire power. Again, people say Obsidian Shell is good at bursting/ratchet sniping, but honestly I think they just like the bey, because I have experienced none of that. I love the look, and goatieness (?) of this bey, but it's not good.

Stadiums:

Drop Attack Stadium:

I wouldn't buy this trash unless you want Hover Wyvern. You will never use the X-rail unless you launch Mach 10 and almost blow your shoulder out. the battles are way less and exciting, and the pockets are so much smaller. In addition to the whole stadium being at the weirdest slant in the world, it is a very, very bad experience compared to the "Normal" Stadium.

Xtreme Battle Set Stadium:

The battles in this stadium feel pretty close to what I would see online in the TT stadium. You will be surprised at how small it is, but you will still get satisfying gameplay. If you don't want to spend the 120~ USD (in the USA) to get the TT stadium just yet, 40 for this is a good deal, and I say it's worth it just to have your beys see some use until you get the TT stadium where you can feel official.

Closing:

Hopefully this will help at least one person who was looking through product make a decision on what bey to start with. I know my descriptions and reasoning wasn't perfect, but it was from honest experience. Thank you all again for the many threads I read before ordering these.
