How should interns be treated and are viewed in the biotech/pharma industry? I have been through two internships and have already been met with some highly disrespectful and rude colleagues. Is it generally commonplace for interns in their last year of college to be mistreated and forced to deal with such harsh working conditions (high stress work environment, toxic managers/boss, etc.) I won’t give any specific detail, but it seems like this company gives its interns little to no support and appears that not many colleagues appreciate or value the work we do as interns. In my previous internship, it was highly professional and everyone was willing to go beyond their means to help me with whatever I needed. My managers and I got along very well and I felt like I was valuable and respected by everyone. This is currently not the case, I wonder if it’s because of the impending layoffs or if I seem to offend some people off.
