I saw an item I was interested in and messaged the seller with an offer. She accepted. I told her I couldn’t pick it up at the moment, but I could the following day around noon and that I’d be happy to Venmo her a deposit to hold it. She said ok and to Venmo her. I sent her $25 of the $150. She replied and said she received the $15 but would need the full amount to hold the item as there was someone willing to come pick up the item immediately. I explained I wasn’t comfortable paying for the item in full without seeing it to make sure everything is working. She said it’s how she’s always sold items. I Suggested she send my deposit back and we go our separate ways. So I’m wondering if I’m in the wrong? Or is she? Or is neither of us? Would you pay a seller $150 before seeing the item? It’s a mechanical item so there were some moving parts I wanted to confirm were not seized up.
